Create Nameservers DirectAdmin

Once your DirectAdmin install is complete you will need to run a few final setup steps to get your DirectAdmin NVMe VPS server into a working state. One of the most important things to create your nameservers. Without nameservers, you will not be able to point any domain names to your DirectAdmin server and because of this none of your website will resolve to the server.

Set The Main Domain Name

First, let’s set the main domain name. This is the domain name you will be using for your nameservers, It will also be used to send mail for your users.

Login to DirectAdmin at http://Your_IP:2222 your admin username and password is displayed in the console you used to install DirectAdmin. Switch to the user panel on the top right. Click Add Domain” and enter the domain name you are using for this server. Click submit.

Create Nameservers DirectAdmin

Switch back to the Admin panel and select the IP Manager text link. You can switch to list based menu items on the top right to see the link.

Enter the IP address for the second NS nameserver. The first should already be there. Then select both IPs and click “Assign” a popup box will appear and should say “Admin” click save.

Switch to the Reseller panel (top right) and click the nameservers icon or text link. Delete any current nameservers then select the two IPs and click “Create Nameservers For” and select the domain you want the nameservers for. Click Save.

Switch back to the admin panel and click Admin settings. On this page ensure the correct NS1 and NS2 fields are entered. This should display your NS1 and NS2 nameservers. If not correct as required.

You should not set your email address to receive ticket notifications if you are using the internal ticketing system. From the admin panel click “Manage Tickets” and place your email address in the box. then switch to the user panel and click “Statistics” set your email here too.

That’s it, you have created your nameservers in Direct Admin and can begin setting up websites on your DirectAdmin server. Remember to install a firewall like CSF to protect your server
