You can connect to your Windows Desktop or Windows Server using a number of ways. You have likely already used the NoVNC console we provide to access your Windows Desktop or Windows NVMe VPS Server. This is a great tool because even if you can’t connect to your instance. As long as it’s online you will always be able to use the NoVNC. This doesn’t provide the best experience so, you can also use a standard Remote Desktop connection to access your instance. Here, we will allow remote desktop connections.
What is RDP?
The Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) is a windows function that allows you to connect to Windows Desktops and Windows servers using a secure connection. You can stream the desktop to your local PC with functions like sound included. RDP is the most popular way to connect to these machines but, there are other options like SPICE that also allow advanced services like the ability to mount USBs.
Allow Remote Desktop Connections
The process to enable remote desktops on Windows Servers and Windows Desktops is exactly the same. So, from your desktop and in the search bar on the bottom left enter “Allow Remote”. Click “Allow Remote Access To Your Computer”.

In the box that appears click “Allow remote connections to this computer” and, unclick the checkbox underneath. Click apply. Now you can connect to your instance using the IPv4 address and RDP.
